The cuckoo bird is also made of wood. Certificate of Authenticity is included from the Black Forest Clock Association (sometimes referred to as being VDS-Certified). Only clocks, manufactured by hand in the Black Forest region of Germany and with mechanical clockworks, qualify for this certification.The cuckoo bird comes out to “”cuckoo”” the count of the hour, every hour, and “”cuckoos”” once every half hour. There is a silencing lever on the left side of the clock, to silence the clock at night.
